Following the meeting at the presidential villa in Abuja on Thursday, August 24 hosted by the Nigeria president; Bola Tinubu. He disclosed how pressured he has been to deploy ECOWAS military force against the junta in Niger Republic.
He further expresses how he stands as a resistance to hold back forces outside ECOWAS control and regional bloc, who are prepared against the junta in Niger Republic. He said;

“I am managing a very serious situation. Even as of this (yesterday) morning, I have been undated with phone calls on the readiness of countries with their military force and contributions. However, I told them to wait. I am meeting with the Ulama and will get back to you.
If you take ECOWAS aside, other people will react, those who are outside of our control. I am the one holding those sides back. I am the one holding back ECOWAS.”

This meeting marked the second of its kind between the Ulama and President Tinubu.
They had first meeting on Wednesday, August 9, when they were first granted permission to visit Niamey, the Niger capital, to dialogue with the coup leader.

On their second meeting on Thursday, where the president stressed his commitment to a peaceful resolution in solving the issue as the chairman of the ECOWAS, he urged the Ulama to make things snappy with the junta, as time is crucial.
