QUESTIONS
A scrutiny of this certificate shows that it was signed by Yushau Ahmed, a Brigadier general who only became NYSC Director general (DG) in January and was issued in February. These raised questions as NYSC issues certificates immediately after Completion of the programme and does not reprint lost or damaged certificates.
Also, further questions on why the law that established the NYSC scheme permits elected officials, serving lawmakers and an house of representative member for mobilisation to National service.
The letter sent by the PREMIUM TIMES editor in chief requesting for the verification of Mr. Tunji Ojo's certificate and clarification on why it was signed in February, two years after the lawmaker was said to have completed the scheme.
Premium Times demanded information on the lawmaker's place of primary assignment PPA, his Community Development Service CDS, the bank through which he was paid by the NYSC if at all he received Allowance. Also, did he truly participated in Orientation programme and the Passing-Out parade. These are some of the questions.
NYSC RESPONSES
The NYSC Validated Mr. Tunji Ojo's NYSC Certificate that he was first mobilised in 2006, but absconded from service.
He was later said to resurface in 2018 remobilised in 2019 and was deployed to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in Garki, Abuja as his place of primary Assignment.
The NYSC, however stated that the certificate was omitted when others were printed in 2020 as in the certificate printing Application.
Mr Tunji Ojo wrote a letter, through the state coordinator FCT, of which was forwarded to the headquarters on 18th October, 2022 applying for his certificate.
His National certificate No. AOO4523631 was produced on 28th February, 2023 for collection.
